Pro bono work provides a tangible return not only to individuals and communities in need but also the law firms and solicitors involved in delivering pro bono legal services. The benefits include great personal satisfaction; the development of key skills and competencies; and positive profile raising for individual solicitors and firms.
The aim of LawWorks Scotland is not to displace nor to duplicate activities which are already making a difference to individuals and communities in need. Instead, its aim is to celebrate and promote the benefits of pro bono legal advice, increase its impact and reach and encourage more law firms and solicitors to get involved.
LawWorks Scotland has already developed a wealth of experience which is embedded in the services offered to members:
LawWorks Scotland is a charity and is wholly dependant upon membership fees and donations to enable it to continue its valuable work. A number of law firms and other bodies support LawWorks Scotland as a tangible expression of their commitment to pro bono activity.
LawWorks Scotland needs the support of all law firms in Scotland to make pro bono activity the norm and not the exception – so please consider membership today and help bring about a culture shift in Scotland.
